Dr. Dowe saw a need in the community for a program that would not only help people develop a healthier lifestyle, but would assist in the intervention and prevention of metabolic diseases created by unhealthy habits.  She presented a business plan to HMH to begin a weight management clinic.  Through her vision and tenacity, she helped develop and became the newly established Medical Director of the Medical Weight Management Clinic at HMH in Elizabethtown, KY from October 2012 through June 2014.

Dr. Dowe subsequently started her own line in the treatment of Obesity in 2014, "Med Life Fit, LLC."  Presently, there are two Kentucky locations; one in Louisville and the other in Elizabethtown.

Her understanding of the treatment of obesity and the genetic, biologic, environmental, societal, and behavioral elements that lead to obesity, make her a valuable practitioner in the handling of this disease.  She employs therapeutic interventions including diet, physical activity, and behavioral modification.  Her office also utilizes a comprehensive approach, which includes nutritionists, exercise physiologists, psychologists and Bariatric surgeons as indicated to achieve optimal results.

On a personal note, Dr. Dowe was born in Birmingham, Alabama.  She has taught Baptist Sunday School classes over the last 30 years and is currently teaching 4th – 12th graders at Canaan Christian Church in Louisville, KY where she is an active member. She has a handsome grandson (Izaiah) and a daughter (Janaya), a dental assistant aspiring toward Orthodontics Dentistry.
