The Weekly Word with Dr. Dowe: Thankful!

“Give thanks to the Lord, for HE IS GOOD! His faithful love endures forever.Has the Lord saved you? Then speak out! Tell others he has saved you…For he has gathered…many…from east and west, from north and south.” Psalm 107:1-3 (NLT)
Expressions of thankfulness beacons from our lips easily when we consider an honest relationship with the Lord. Psalm 107 depicts 4 different occasions of distress then, praise (homeless; prisoner; foolish-death-door-living and; living through a storm).
The homeless, the psalmist says “He led them straight to safety, they could live…He satisfies and He fills…with good things (v.4- 9).
The prisoner talks against the Words of God. The Lords says, “I broke them with hard labor, they fell and no one was there to help. Yet, I led them from darkness and gloom” (v. 10-16).
Some were foolish, rebelled, suffered through their sins and were not hungry for spiritual food but sought after worldly food, knocking at death’s door. Guess what? The Lord saves again…” He sent out His Word and Healed them” (v. 17-22).
Nobody likes being in a storm nor experiencing when the expectant turns for the worse. Yet, we observe the Lord’s power in action in the deepest seas when we’re at our wit’s end. (v. 23-29) God forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases (in the mind, body and soul) Psalm 103:3. The sovereign Lord is in control.
