I have been crucified with Christ; Nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loves me, and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20 (KJV)

Compromise is an important principal in an effort of living in harmony with others. However, we should never compromise the truth of God’s Word. The scripture above summarizes important principals like Integrity and Confrontation in times of Compromising the Truth.

The story starts when Peter, Paul, (both Apostles of the Gospel) other Gentiles and Jewish Christians, all sat down to eat a meal. Peter stayed away from the Gentiles and ate with more prominent Christian Jews-although he was trying to live in harmony (Galatians 2:11-16)-Peter was perceived as a hypocrite. In Galatians 2: 14, Paul confronted Peter in front of everybody that the truth of the gospel was being compromised. The gospel through Christ says “a man is not justified by works through the Law but by faith in Jesus Christ”. Paul’s integrity drove him to stand up to Peter (his fellow leader) in front of both Gentile and Jewish Christians. We as Christians must realize none of us are perfect and are fallible to sin. Yet, we are demanded as Christians to remain consistent regardless of the company we keep. In a famous Leadership Text, helpful Tips to Critique others are identified:

  1. Use standards: Reflect excellence, perform a standard of measure used in the industry to help stratify level of competence of the person

  2. Clarify and be specific: clearly ID issue, don’t compare others; show you value person

  3. Be expedient: Deal with issue right away; be helpful not humiliate or attacking

  4. Noteworthy issue: Is it really important? Is it breaking a foundational principle?

  5. End on a good note: Both parties offer solutions, set time table to complete, positivity.

Paul realized that he could not be saved by obeying God’s Law. Yet, the Law of the Old Testament is Holy and guides us in correct ways. But, God has provided a new way of salvation that depends upon Jesus Christ. Although the above tips can be helpful, we have Christ’s resurrection power living within our hearts. No matter what we face, we are not alone. He is our power for living in every situation! We at MED-LIFE-FIT focus on Family Primary Care and Lifestyle Changes.
