The Weekly Word with Dr. Dowe: The Plan!

“And we know that God causes every thing to work together for the good of those who love God and for those who are called according to His purpose for them…If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” Romans 8:28-31 (NLT)
We all have sinned. But, due to the Good news: death burial and resurrection of the Lord, Salvation is available to all, regardless of identity, race, culture or sin. Through God’s grace (undeserved, unearned favor of God), and through Faith (complete trust), the called (the Holy Spirit has convinced their heart to receive Christ) are assured all things will turn out good.
In scripture above, The Apostle Paul had finished his 3 missionary trips and now he was preparing his trip to Rome which was a big deal. The church in Rome was started by Jews that were converted by faith earlier during The Pentecost (Acts 2). If you recall, at Pentecost God chose to pour out His Holy Spirit like blazing tongues over non-converted Jews and Gentiles and it was these Jews that returned to Rome to start the church and spread the gospel.
Paul, intelligently and articulately presented himself to the Romans but more importantly preached “We have been made right in God’s sight by faith and we have peace through Jesus Christ, God makes every thing work out according to His plan, God called us to live a Holy life” (Romans 5:1; Ephesians 1:11; 1 Timothy 1:9).
According to God’s plan, you are not left to deal with your problems alone. With God, no need to be afraid. Bring them to him in pray and Trust the Holy Spirit will intercede. Yet, not all that happens to us is good. Evil is prevalent. Obeying the evil Spirit at work in our hearts leads us to refuse to obey God and makes us live some kind of way. We follow passionate desires & inclinations of our sinful nature and then we are subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else in this fallen world. But, God is rich in mercy and showers us with grace; not just to make us happy but to fulfill His purpose and not ours. (Eph. 2:1-8).
