Weekly Word with Dr. Dowe: Are you maintaining a healthy life of prayer

“Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home. After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. ” Matthew 14:22 (NLT)

In our modern day world, it is easy to think we can create all things to accommodate us. We can custom make our homes, our schedules, our coffee. While retail has allowed us to arrange some things to our desire, there are hard truths in life that will not. We do not get to choose what moves the Heart of GOD. However, there are examples in the bible where Jesus stops and marvels at the level of faith or lack thereof. Jesus had become accustomed to the lack of faith of the people in the region where we find the scripture today. Jesus had compassion and had just miraculously fed over 5000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fish. Then, Jesus miraculously walked on water and saved the disciples (Peter) from a storm and drowning. But, in between both of these miracles, the scripture quotes Jesus going to remote places to pray. Jesus often prays.

The weight of our prayer life is measured by our FAITH. Is our FAITH weight so light, God has to show us miracles, signs & wonders for us to believe His power? Or, is it so solid & sound it gets God’s attention? Remember, it was a little boy who brought forth the bread and fish and Jesus took that FAITH and fed over 5000!

It is commonly known here at MED Life Fit that the greatest weights that affect LIFESTYLE change are 1) behavior skills, 2) exercise, 3) nutrition, and 4) spiritual so called (BENS Theory). As spiritual creatures, we must remember that the weight of our FAITH is greatest with the combination of how much of the WORD we consume and how often we exercise faith through prayer. Still away often to pray, go ahead, pray right now!

The people recognized Jesus as the great healer, The Great Physician. But, did they recognize Him for who he truly is. The people came to Jesus for Physical healing yet did not realize He came for Spiritual healing. Be Bless! 7/24/16
