The Weekly Word with Dr. Dowe: Release!

“Don’t worry…Trust in the Lord and do good, Then you will be safe and prosper…Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit all you do to Him. Trust Him and He will help you. He will make …the justice of your cause shine like the noonday sun. Rest, be still in the Lord...wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry…” Psalm 37:1-7 (NLT)
The first forty Books of Psalm were written by David to discuss humans as blessed, still sinful yet redeemed by God. We can trust God not to let us down. God will show up when He finds someone who wants to love Him back and trust Him.
We should realize that we live here in this world yet those who follow God are challenged to live differently. What a believer gets on earth can last a lifetime but what we get from following what the BIBLE says will last forever. The above scriptures give us 5 admonitions that Praise the Lord.
Trust in the Lord: comes from Hebrew root word batach which means having a bold assurance, confidence, having both the fact of security and the feeling of safety; it is a prophetic theme that gives hope to those who are strong in faith and rely on God’s caring strength.
Delight in the Lord: comes from Hebrew root word chaphets meaning to incline to, desire any at all; have pleasure and a will to move and desire the outcome.
Commit to the Lord: comes from Hebrew root word galal meaning to roll with it; down together; seek occasion to wallow or trust in it.
Justice in the Lord: comes from Hebrew root word tsadaq meaning to cleanse, to clear self and be turn to righteousness; be right. Ps. 82;3 says, “Give justice to the afflicted and needy, Deliver the poor and needy”
Rest in the Lord: comes from Hebrew root word damam meaning to stop; cease; hold peace; to quiet one self; be silent; stand still; tarry and wait.
Where do you focus your attention? Knowledge of God’s great love for us will indeed flourish when we spend more time with him. Read the WORD daily and meditate on what He has already done. You know, it could be worse!
