Word of the Week

THE WORD FOR THE WEEK

Title: Time to Quit Slacking… 2/19/17

“So, we tell others about the Lord, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, mature in their relationship to the Lord” Colossians 2:28 (NLT)

The Apostle Paul is the author of Colossians where we feature The Word for the Week. Paul wrote this book from a prison in Colosse. He wrote this letter in a response to local confusion and opinions (Heresy) that were fundamentally contrary to the gospel of Jesus Christ; contrary to truths of accepted beliefs and standards. Paul did not shrink from addressing trouble and making tough calls. He was not a people pleaser but moved out of love for people and respect for the Lord. Excellence is Paul’s description of Jesus and what he wanted in every believer. Today, we would be better off to learn the courage and leadership depicted in Paul. Paul told everyone without shrinking back, “Christ is the image of the invisible God…Christ is before all things, and in Him all things consist…the firstborn from the dead. And He is the head of the church” Col. 1:15-18.

The Church is responsible to bring people into a saving relationship with the Lord. Do you as a believer take your responsibility serious? Are you confused like the Colosse people? Do you know what God wants you to do? How do you study the bible and live according to God’s will? How does one mature and overcome weaknesses; overcome fasting with daily bible study while overcoming other strongholds that we struggle with over and over in your life?

“Didache” is the faith teaching of the WORD of GOD. The answer to our spiritual walk toward maturity in this evil world is in the proper study and teaching of the WORD of God. It’s our responsibility to help others know there is A way to Life or there is A way to Death; and not both. It is a choice. None of us are perfect yet there are processes to become mature in your faith and give you strength in your weaknesses. Matt. 7:21 says, “Not everyone who calls out to me, Lord, Lord! will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father will enter”.

How do you know God’s will?

Jesus says, “Anyone who listens to my teachings (read my WORD) and follow it is wise” Matt. 7:24
