Title: Spring into......Worship
"I was glad when they said to me, Let us go to the house of the Lord..All the tribes of Israel-the Lord's people-make their pilgrimage here...O, Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls and prosperity in your palaces" Psalms 122:1-9 (NLT)
Our attitude toward God will determine our perspective of worship. If our love for God has cooled or if we have un-confessed sins, we will tend to think of worship as a chore.
King David is the author in The Word fo the Week found in Psalm 122 this week. David found sure delight to go worship the Lord. We find David going to one of the three great religious festival, Psalms 120-135 were written very short. Historically, these songs were repeated during Jewish ceremonies as they ascended 15 steps going from the outward court to the inner court of the Tabernackle during worship. Some conjectured that during different stages of the journey, there were different degrees or experiences they were going through. It's written that once David worship so hard he cam out his clothes! (2 Samuel 6:13&20). When I was a child, I remember my mom worshiping and losing her glove once and another lady losing her wig!
What are you thankful for ? Is God the source of your supply? Is he helping you raise your kids? Is he keeping you healthy or helping you heal your temple? To have a heart for God means we should go to His Temple to Worship him. If we are close to God and enjoy His presence, we will be eager to worship and praise Him. When conflict comes, then we are not off-settled because WORSHIP reminds us that God created us, God redeems us and God provides for us. To find peace of mind and peace with others, we must first find peace with God and prosperity will follow.
1 Corintina 6:17 says, "But, the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him". Our culture tells us it is nonsense to believe that our soul is united with the LORD in faith. Matthew Henry tells us, when we veer from this relationship with our creator, its ill effects fall not only directly on our body but also our minds. May we make it our business, to the latest day and hour of our lives, to glorify God with our bodies, and with our spirits which are His.
